Is one of the smallest dog breeds. The breed was developed during the 19th century in Yorkshire England and was used as a working dog in under ground mines to catch rats, a problematic rodent for miners. Yorkshire Terriers are playful and energetic dogs making them a popular companion dog but one that doesn’t like to be left alone and may therefore exhibit separation anxiety when left. With their long hair they can be high maintenance but this is more than a worthwhile trade for such spunky animated characters.
