We have dear neighbors who have a Pug named “Jackpot”. He is a feisty little fellow who barks ferociously at our dogs if he happens to be in the garden when we walk by. Pugs were a breed that originated in China but brought to Europe traders in the 16th century. Queen Victoria of England developed a passion for Pugs which she passed on to other members of the Royal family.

The Pugs of today are more stocky and there faces more squashed than in the 18th century but are arguably cuter as a result.
